Prevention Measures

FALL PREVENTION

Fall prevention therapy is a multifaceted approach using interventions to reduce the risk of falling. Our physical therapists will coordinate exercise programs with enough intensity to help you build muscle strength to improve your posture, mobility and coordination.

INJURY PREVENTION AND REHABILITATION

Our physical therapists can work with you to create an exercise program to prevent sports-related and work-related injuries. Conditioning for injury prevention helps you increase your strength and endurance so you can avoid injuries.

Surgical Rehabilitation

SURGICAL REHABILITATION

Post-surgery rehabilitation is tailored specifically for each surgical procedure, and designed to re-establish muscle strength and joint function, prevent respiratory or vascular complications, increase mobility, and give you the confidence to live a full life again.

BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION

Blood flow restriction (BFR) therapy is used to help patients gain strength in injured or weak muscles while reducing the stress placed on the recovering limb. By applying external pressure to an arm or a leg using a specialized cuff, our physical therapists can help patients recover from surgery or injury, regaining strength more quickly and with less work.

When using this treatment, our physical therapists use a surgical grade tourniquet to apply a precise amount of pressure to the patient’s arm or leg while exercising the muscle. The goal is to maintain blood flow into the muscle while preventing outflow, thus maximizing strength gains while minimizing stress on muscles and joints.

Wound Care

Chronic, non-healing wounds can be complex. And, if not treated properly (or in a timely manner) the risk of serious complications or infection increases exponentially. Our wound specialists have expertise with many different types of wounds and the actions that need to take place when intervention is necessary.

Neurological Rehabilitation

NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION

Neurological rehabilitation is aimed at helping individuals who have experienced injuries or diseases affecting their nervous system. This system includes the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. Neurological conditions can range from strokes and traumatic brain injuries to neurological disorders like Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's Disease. Our physical therapists focus on improving the functioning and quality of life for individuals with these conditions.

CONCUSSION THERAPY

Concussed patients with mild to moderate vision, dizziness, or balance problems may find relief by working with a Premier Physical Therapist. We treat symptoms including motion sensitivity, gaze instability, and trouble tracking moving objects with the eyes.

VERTIGO THERAPY

Vertigo is a sensation or feeling that the person or their environment is spinning and is often described as a sense of constant dizziness. It can cause balance problems and often is a result of a problem in the inner ear.

Our physical therapists can help improve your quality of life through hands-on care, patient education, and prescribed movement.

CRANIAL-SACRAL THERAPY

This technique uses a gentle placement of the hands to release tension throughout the body. This technique can be beneficial for a variety of ailments such as neck pain and headaches, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and many other diagnoses.

LSVT BIG

LSVT BIG is an intensive, effective, one-on-one treatment created to help people with Parkinson's Disease (PD) and other neurological conditions address improve movements for any activity, whether “small motor” tasks like buttoning a shirt or “large motor” tasks like getting up from sofa or chair or maintaining balance while walking.

HIGH INTENSITY GAIT TRAINING

HIGT is walking and stepping practice that is vigorous enough to keep your heart rate over a certain target level. That level is specific to you and will be determined by your physical therapist using your resting and maximal heart rate to calculate your maximum heart rate or heart rate reserve. This therapy provides exceptional outcomes for patients who live with multiple sclerosis or have experienced a stroke.

Miscellaneous PT Services

Pediatric Rehabilitation

Pediatric rehabilitation can help children who have physical or developmental challenges become as independent and healthy as possible. Our team of physical therapists and physicians will work together to help kids improve their abilities and quality of life using various therapies, exercises, and techniques to make it easier for them to move, communicate, and do everyday tasks.

Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic therapy, also known as water therapy or aquatic rehabilitation, takes place in a pool and utilizes the water's buoyancy to reduce impact on joints, and make it easier for people with conditions like injuries, arthritis, or neurological disorders to help improve strength, flexibility, balance, relieve pain, and improve physical health, mobility, and overall well-being.

Postural Respiration

Our physical therapists will work with you to improve your posture and breathing patterns to alleviate issues like musculoskeletal pain, respiratory difficulties, or other health problems related to posture and respiration. This approach emphasizes the importance of a balanced relationship between posture and breathing for optimal physical function and comfort.

Functional Capacity Evaluations

A functional capacity evaluation (FCE) is a set of tests that are used to identify a person's physical skills, functional capabilities, activity endurance, and work tolerance. The FCE is a 4-to-6-hour evaluation that is administered by a Premier Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist.

TMJ

“TMJ” refers to the temporomandibular joint, a hinge-like joint that connects your lower jaw to your skull. “TMD” is a condition that affects the TMJ, and it stands for temporomandibular joint disorder. It often causes severe, persistent pain, discomfort, and inflammation within the jaw.

Our Physical Therapists can coach you through muscle and joint remobilization techniques to dramatically decrease the symptoms related to TMD, and in some cases, minimize most of the headaches related to the disorder.

Visceral Mobilization

This gentle technique is used to release tension and restriction around organs.  These attachments anchor to our tendons, ligament, and joints and can cause pain and decreased mobility when left untreated.

Dry Needling

This technique uses thin needles in or near painful, tense spots within the muscle.  This technique is beneficial in releasing tension and decreasing pain within these areas.
